Top Bolshoi ballerina 'flees Russia' after threats

One of the Bolshoi ballet's best known ballerinas has fled Russia for Canada after receiving threats, it emerged Tuesday, as the chief of the troubled company prepared to leave for Germany to receive treatment for wounds sustained in an acid attack.

Dmitri Gudanov (L) and Svetlana Lunkina from the Bolshoi Ballet Company perform during a rehearsal of "Swan Lake" at the Royal Opera House in London, on August 3, 2006. Lunkina -- one of the Bolshoi ballet's best known ballerinas -- has fled Russia for Canada after receiving threats over a business dispute involving her husband, according to a Russian newspaper.
