A French hotel that decorated rooms in a fake "Little Buddha" theme went a step too far when it used toilet covers with an image of the Buddha's head, Thai Buddhists said Wednesday.

A report on the Moulin de Broaille, a hotel in Bourgogne, outraged a group of Thai residents of Europe when it said that Buddhist symbols were placed throughout the rooms, including on toilet covers.

The Thais complained through the Knowing Buddha website at www.knowingbuddha.org.

Thais respect Buddha image, his teaching is an other story, he teach the middle patch life styles,compassions,egoless and many others.Apparenly his followers(lay persons and Sankhas) have been tarnishing his teaching to the cores.
Suppermax d #11. I believe having religious image such as earring still better than toilet seat cover. See if an jewelry artist would come up with buddha imulate as earring would be sensational.

#10, don't talk to quickly. I know the french, they relayed the polemical danish caricatures of the Prophet and they really associate the Buddhism to "zen" and plenitude. It's a mistake, not a crime. I am catholic myself and i don't care if a Thai ladies put a cross as a fashion or for what she want. Why to be intolerant with what preach the tolerance, even if it's always deviate.

"Buddhists enraged" is an oxymoron...

True Buddhists never become "enraged", enragement is against Buddhist principles.

Buddhism was not a religion but it has become one. Look at the worshipping and idolatry beyond ridicule. And fastly becoming intolerant against non-buddhists. Just like the religious Big Three ... And anyway, I decide if a religion/philisophy deserve respect or despise. No one else !

Right, #1, a really nice philosophy who certainly inspired 2 big monotheist religions. A lot of Thai people mix a little bit everything, animism, spiritism... religion. But why not? If we don't fall in the integrism... As the police controlling if the people don't drink the Buddha day.

If Thais do not accept what the other countries do, better they stay home...
Thailand is not the navel of the world... Bouddha taught tolerance, but mostly of Thais are not bouddhist, they are animist : money and ghost !!!!
