Four-star Pizarro on Bayern bench for Juventus

Peru striker Claudio Pizarro started on the bench for Bayern Munich in Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final, first leg at home to Juventus, despite scoring four goals last time out.

Bayern Munich's Peruvian striker Claudio Pizarro gestures during the final team training ahead of the UEFA Champions League quarter final first-leg football match FC Bayern Munich vs Juventus Turin at the trainings area of FC Bayern Munich in Munich, southern Germany, on April 1, 2013.

The 34-year-old former Chelsea forward ran riot in Saturday's 9-2 drubbing of Hamburg in the Bundesliga, but takes his place on Bayern's bench for the Allianz Arena clash with Mario Mandzukic starting as the lone striker.

Brazil star Luiz Gustavo came in for the suspended Javi Martinez, who serves a one-game ban, alongside Bastian Schweinsteiger in Munich's defensive midfield.

For Juventus, strikers Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella paired up again in attack, while the trio of Giorgio Chiellini, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Claudio Marchisio were all brought into Antonio Conte's 3-5-2 formation.
