At least four protesters have been killed since police began their ferocious assault to clear the anti-government camp on Kiev's Independence Square, a senior member of the opposition's medical team said.

"We have four bodies," Svyatoslav Hanenko a senior opposition medic told AFP.
The latest deaths mean that some 16 people have been killed in clashes between police and protesters.
