NIAMEY - Police on Saturday fired tear gas at a fresh demonstration in Niger against French weekly Charlie Hebdo's publication of a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed, according to an AFP reporter on the scene.

Thousands gather after Friday prayers in the city of Zinder, Niger on January 16, 2015 to vent anger at the depiction of the Prophet Mohammed in the latest edition of the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo

At least 1,000 youths assembled at the grand mosque in the capital Niamey, some of them throwing rocks at police, a day after protests against Charlie Hebdo in the country's second city of Zinder left four dead and 45 injured.
