Scottish duo cited, risk missing quarter-final

LONDON - Ross Ford and Jonny Gray are in danger of missing Scotland's World Cup quarter-final against Australia after both were cited on Monday.

Scotland's hooker Ross Ford, pictured on September 25, 2015, and Jonny Gray have been cited for a lifting tackle during Scotland's thrilling 36-33 win over Samoa

First choice hooker Ford and lock Gray, who forms an effective partnership with older brother Richie, have been cited for a lifting tackle during Scotland's thrilling 36-33 win over Samoa on Saturday.

Their hearing will take place in London on Tuesday morning and will be heard by English lawyer Christopher Quinlan.

Australia will have breathed a sigh of relief as star No 8 David Pocock escaped a citing for an incident during their epic 15-6 win over Wales on Saturday.

The 27-year-old Zimbabwe-born backrow forward received a post-match warning, the equivalent of a yellow card. He could be called to a hearing after three warnings or yellow cards.

"Pocock is therefore free to play in Australia’s quarter-final against Scotland," said a Rugby World statement.
