WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama told his French counterpart Francois Hollande Tuesday the United States stands united with France against terror.

US President Barack Obama (R) and French President Francois Hollande arrive for a joint news conference after their meeting at the White House in Washington on November 24, 2015

"We are all French," Obama told Hollande, in French, after hosting him at the White House for talks on how to confront the threat posed by Islamic State.

"We are here to declare that the United States and France stand united in total solidarity to deliver justice to terrorists and those who sent them, and to defend our nations," he said.

Obama called on the European Union Tuesday to implement an agreement that would require airlines to share passenger information.

Obama, at a joint news conference with Hollande, said there was growing recognition in Europe after the November 13 attacks in Paris that more needs to be done to prevent the flow of foreign fighters.

"As part of that, I'm calling on the European Union to finally implement the agreement long in the works that would require the airlines to the share passenger information to do more to stop the foreign terrorist fighters from entering our countries undetected," Obama said.
