RS takes flak over weekend TV football broadcasts

- +

The broadcasting regulator has instructed RS Plc to air live broadcasts of the remaining World Cup football matches on free analogue TV channels after the firm chose to broadcast two crucial games only on its own digital TV Channel 8 over the weekend.

The company's decision prevented viewers with conventional TV antennas from watching the games which were supposed to be broadcast on the analogue signal on Channel 5 on Saturday and Sunday night.

The two matches — Brazil and Chile on Saturday night, and Holland and Mexico on Sunday night — were broadcast instead on Channel 8, a digital TV channel owned by RS.
