The shooting of a young school boy is a very sad story. Student rivalry and violence, however, is not a new problem, even though the intensity of violence has increased in recent years _ not only in Thailand.
I do hope that parents, teachers and education institutes as well as the Ministry of Education will start thinking further.
Parents getting together _ as has happened _ to support the purchase of weapons for students who fear attacks, is not a solution. The 16-year-old boy who killed Jatuporn was allegedly one of those who had that fear.
