We'd like to know, too

I find it deeply troubling that Deputy PM Suthep feels he only owes an explanation of currently indicted Pol Lt Gen Somkid's promotion to assistant national police chief, to the people of Saudi Arabia and apparently not to the citizens of Thailand, who deserve police leaders of the highest integrity.

In Monday's edition it was reported that Mr Suthep would send an explanation of Lt Gen Somkid's promotion to the Saudi charge d'affaires.

Why the need for a special letter? Will this letter contain secret information that the Saudis cannot learn through publicly released information? Why is this information not being shared with the citizens and residents of Thailand?

SAmmy, you should ask Travel & Leisure Magazine who voted Bangkok the best city in the world. Tell Travel & Leisure Magazine stop given wrong information to tourists. I’ve stopped reading this magazine as they always give wrong information.

    Curious Resident,

Suthep is the Uncle Dick Cheney of Thailand. He does things the way Uncle Dick did. Did you know that Uncle Dick ran the US and not Dubya?

Well, Thailand is the same way now. Uncle Dick Cheney of Thailand has been running the country, too, if you have not noticed it already.

The two Uncles just do it secretly as they see fit.

With all these ugly stuff, Thailand is still the world top tourist spot.

I think people from civilized countries are sometimes bored with their orderliness and want to experience some messiness once in a while. Thst's why they come here.

    Khun Songdej,
Why? 'A slice of the cake'; that's probably why.

SONGDEJ PRADITSMANONT" Dream on you will have more chance of winning the lottery rather than see this happen. On a lighter note with the advent of the internet more and more "aliens" now know what a corrupt and money grubbing place Thailand has become and people with families are voting with their feet to visit other destinations where they they won't get ripped off.

SONGDEJ PRADITSMANONT is the voice of reason here - why, we must ask, doesn't the deputy director of the City Law Enforcement Department want to do his job? Does he receive a slice of the ill-gotten street fines? Songdej, keep up your intelligent comments!

Mr Bennett, there are quite a few 5-star toilets to be found in Bangkok, notably at department stores such as Index at Future Park. At the other end of the scale are any and all toilet facilities at any gas station. Wade across the wet floors to stinking and filthy urinals and toilets through a haze of appalling smells to be greeted by ...........: well, it's best left to the imagination.Take your own loo roll as well! Truly disgusting and a health hazard . How strange that they clean your windscreen but never the toilets.
