Rules we need to let tourists know about

The "cigarette police" affair _ the shameless extortion of foreign tourists by unscrupulous thesakit city inspectors _ must be a big headache for people in the tourism promotion industry, people who are trying to convince foreign tourists to come and experience what this country has been so proud of _ the so-called Thai hospitality.

Of course, now that this matter has been exposed by the media, those sitting at the top desks at City Hall are likely to take some action and the extortion - you'll just have to believe me - is expected to disappear, if only for a while!

This sort of story will come back to haunt us, again and again.
