Vigilance is vital

Re: ''Under a cloud of fear'' (Postbag, Jan 17).

The US embassy's warning of a terrorist attack appears to have been spot on, leading to one suspect arrested and huge amounts of bomb-making material found.

So why criticise their efforts? If it wasn't for them and the Israelis, this group would not have been found and many bombs would be exploding somewhere. Bombs that could be used anywhere, including Europe and Thailand. Remember, this guy had been to the South.

Acting on intell is only common sense .Would a Israeli terrorist come into Thailand on his own passport and buy bomg material only to let it sit in a shop house fora year ? Yes I know better safe than sorry but ask yourself if a terrorist would bomb a place he comes on holiday ? I think it is understood that you dont dodo in your own back yard .Bali was a local bomber .
