Much Ado About Nothing

I'm writing in regards to the controversy over the worthiness of Nalinee Taveesin _ who is on a US blacklist because of her involvement with Robert Mugabe and his wife _ to keep her position with the government.

What exactly is a minister to the Prime Minister's Office, and is such a position really necessary?

flashflood D6 : Oh so that makes her choice of friends better then does it?

Discussion 2. I am no way related to Taveesin. I get the feeling you are not Thai. I am living in Bangkok for the past 35 years and seen how so many politicians used corrupt practices in Thailand for their benefits. I have seen the work carried out by Ms. Taveesin when she used to help the Watana sub district schools for various social activities. I have also seen Taveesin’s contribution as a Bangkok Senator. Just because this woman associated with Zimbabwe President on social terms during his visit to Thailand in early 2000, how can one label her as she was in favour of what RM did in Zimbabwe? Further how did Thailand then invite RM to Thailand in early 2000 in the first place? Does it mean Thailand then associated with RM activities in Zimbabwe?

Mr Meldrew your description of Mugabe could easily be taken as a description if the Bush Administration during their time in office.

Nalinee Taveesins choice of business contacts speaks much more than your words .

I have an uncanny feeling that Kitiporn D2, is Nalinee Taveesin, or related to Nalinee Taveesin, or has business interests with Nalinee Taveesin. How else can anybody go out of his way to defend this woman, who is NOT suitable for a job with a job description that is carrying the words 'noble', 'values' and 'morals', because this woman is considering a mass murderer as one of her friends. The US Blacklisting has nothing to do with it.

kitiporn D2 : Much of the criticism is not about her qualifications but her moral and ethical judgement to think that it's OK to socialize with a torturer, mass murderer and financial rapist of Zimbabwe namely Robert Mugabe.

Part of her job responsible will be promoting the national identity, "the unique and noble values that distinguish Thailand from others, that form the foundation of society and makes it one that is complete with quality, morals, wisdom, thirst for knowledge, generosity and fraternity," so she hardly fits the job title if her circle of friends include Robert Mugabe

Nalinee Taveesin’s appointment as the PM’s Office Minister has been sworn in and endorsed by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on Monday, 23 January 2012
.  Taveesin’s appointment has been the topic of much criticism left and right in all forms of media, without bothering to analyze what this woman can do to help the country.  Perhaps the critics who do not have her admirable educational background and vast international experience can do a better job?  Or are the critics’ extent of accomplishment end at being ‘The BEST Critique’.  Not allowing Taveesin to carry out her appointment only results in cheating Thailand of what she can deliver.  The best benefit of all the media coverage is that Taveesin is given the chance to show the world how deserving she is of the appointment by doing a stellar job and proving the sound judgment of the PM in giving her the job.

Ask Abhisit. He was one too before became party chief and later PM.
