Thanks for nothing

Having lived in Thailand since the early 1980s, I very rarely comment on any of the government's actions. However, organising a party to honour the work of the Flood Relief Operations Command is just too much for me to understand.

In my opinion, holding such a celebration demonstrates a total disregard for the majority of Thais who were affected by the recent flooding, especially in Bangkok and surrounding areas. It is simply insulting!

Rather than having a party, I think it would be a very good idea to just get rid of those who headed up Froc. They did such a terrible job, which only added to the suffering of the hundreds of thousands of people, not to mention those who died in the tragic disaster.

There is no doubt that flood management needs one body and one overlord. But it shouldn't be the PM. This body needs to be above politics. Not a hard task in Thailand surely.

Seriously, this person needs to be an expert at water control not at putting makeup on. And it needs to function no matter who is in government.

I can see that the PM is trying to make a mark but this isn't the way to do it.

Today's letters about Chula and the USA, in addition to the articles about the latest adventures of Thaksin and Jatuporn, as well as the Arab Spring, are indicative of a rather obvious fact, which can not be denied; namely that the current national political systems of administration are obsolete, and that they do not serve mankind's interests. This includes Thailand.

Very briefly, mankind needs to create urgently a new global system of administration - one that meets the material and spiritual needs of all people, and whose leaders are chosen mainly for their spiritual capacity and desire to serve mankind. The alternative is the worsening mess that we face every day.

Most of those invited to the FROC party weren't even had their feet wet or contributed anything.
