In the end, Yingluckwill have to explain

Re: ''PM urged to clarify hotel meet'' (BP, Feb 22). It seems the people in the Pheu Thai Party are overreacting to queries pertaining to PM Yingluck's activities on Feb 8.

On that day, the prime minister skipped a parliamentary session and was instead spotted at a five-star hotel. Speculation ensued as to why she was there and who she was meeting.

On Tuesday, Pheu Thai MP Pracha Prasop-dee led a group of about 60 reporters to the hotel in question for an inspection. But since he carried neither a court warrant nor official authority, he was denied entry.

Now, not much respect for politicians of any party in Thailand. So unlikely for me to compare Thai politicians as at par with politicians of the western world. In general, most are not even half as good in ethics, diligence and objectivity as those farang MPs. Not likely for a Thai like me to trumpet Thailand on matters that are so shameful like activities of some Thai politicians.

If Yingluck had just come forward and said why she met this property developer this would never have gone this far .Since she used to manage her brothers property company I think it is fair to assume conflict of interest but Yingluck as usual has nothing to say .

She is not paid to make mistakes. You used a similar excuse when she took the role of PM Give here time to learn.Countries have not got the time to TRAIN a PM for the role.

Yingluck hasn't explained very much since coming to power .When ever something drastic is put forward by PT they always make sure she is out of town to avoid having to explain anything .If you have heard her try to explain anything before you can understand why .
Elephants are supposed to be the national symbol of Thailand but are treated horribly .They are killed for parts ,trafficked ,and used for tourists amusement .If they really are a national symbol they should left in national reserves and protected by the governemnt .

It is difficult to soften the mind of those who have the predetermined prejudice against anyone.

Khun Songdej, some nice points made, however, I have doubts that you are seriously expecting anyone to agree that Thai politicians are of the same calibre and have the same morals and ethics as the majority of western politicians have - as John McEnroe would say " you can't be serious"

Agree that Valentine's kissing contest was a bad taste. I blame this on the media.

Agree that Valentine's kissing contest was a bad taste and should be discouraged. I blame this on the media.

She made a mistake and lesson's been learned. Time to let it go and move on.

Khun Songdej, in any other country...Margaret Thatcher's family didn't get involved in suspicious property deals or own property companies, David Cameron is nobody's proxy and France doesn't have a dysfunctional democracy where politicians routinely attack the prime minister, regardless of who the opposition are. In any other country, prime ministers are generally experienced enough to understand that their schedule bears public scrutiny, and anything that cannot be satisfactorily explained away in a parliamentary session festers. The 'thinker' should have thought about that when he cloned himself.
