Caring for the Kingdom's ageing population

Thailand is an ageing society. I'm already counting down the years to retirement, and I'm the baby in the family! My wonderful mother is 95 and still going strong. Her cholesterol level is lower than mine, and the only thing wrong with her physically is her hearing. She won't consider a hearing aid because there's nothing she wants to hear, she says.

Yet she needs a carer 24/7 because she fell and broke her thigh bone several years ago, and we won't allow her to be on her own any longer.

She resents it.
