Say no to Chinese

Re: ''Climbing the rungs of the world trade ladder'' (Opinion, June 5).

China has long been producing low quality appliances, many of which don't last half a year. Many Chinese food products still contain melamine despite the government's crackdown on food producers. Dog food products made with Chinese components have killed countless pets worldwide. Imported fruits and vegetables from China have been found to contain chemicals banned in most countries. The best and safest way to protect your health and your wallet is to not buy Chinese. Saving a few baht in the long run is not worth it.

Agreed with letters from Jack Gilead, Songdej Praditsmanont, and RW.
Made in China are mostly from cheap labor+cheap materials, substandard quality and you paid for what you get! Many food items are laced with preservative and melamine.

The reds and its mp's are over reacted when The Constitution Court accepted the complaints. What is the rush to get the 3rd reading? I don't see anything wrong to do it after 15 days.

TOT needs to pay attention to those double and triple pricing charge to farangs, no matter what the excuses are not acceptable. I could see that discount for children and seniors and disable persons are the right thing to do, any other and in between should pay the same price, pretty soon there will be neither goose nor egg!!!

jamal D16 : There is realms of evidence out showing that CO2 emissions are harmful there. But it seems you know better? Not

    MR MELDREW D11
If it can be shown that CO2 emissions are harmful then such emissions should be curbed of course just as NOx and SO2 emissions are now strictly regulated.

re disc 2 and 12 - In Australia we have the Acts Interpretation Act that stipulates how the laws and certain words and phrases are to be read. Does Thailand need something like that to enable ordinary people to know where they stand legally?

Dis#3 - In Thailand, once the store has your money they have zero interest in either you or the product. They certainly don't care whether it breaks down or not. And good luck trying to get a refund. I know of no other country where NO REFUND is printed on every credit card slip you sign. Even a German-made scales I bought which has a three year guarantee in Germany has only a one-year guarantee in Thailand.

Chamal is predictable. He's part of a die-hard few who will never believe man-made pollution contributes to global warming, regardless of scientific data and consensus among scientists.
China's products: Rule of thumb for electric tools 'Made in China' You pay half as much and they're quality is about half as good as well-made items made in Europe or the US or Japan/Korea.
Thai tourism: The #1 black mark on Thai tourist industry is on-going & daily extortions by jet ski rental mobs.

Re: Victor Disc 2; I agree. With regard to the current debate surrounding the Constitution, there seems to be a great diversity of opinion between what is actually written and individual's understanding of it. The problem is exacerbated by poor punctuation or the total lack of it.
I have noticed that several contributors to this forum - allegedly English speakers - are also afflicted with this same problem. Whether this is from ignorance or just laziness, who can tell?

Typo: Cha-am Jamal: So are you stating that burning fossil fuel does no damage and is OK and the practice should be allowed to expand without checks?

Yes it's true that glaciers have come and gone in cycles for thousands of years but why should we believe you that man made pollution isn't speeding up the process?

My advice for those buying cheap electrical appliance....DON"T.

I once bought a cheap electic fan (made in China, of course) and, after a month or so of normal usage, right before my eyes one day, smoke started to come out from the rear end (where the motor is) and I'd to unplugged it in a hurry. Imagine what'll happen if I was not there at that very moment?
