In the first hours after US presidential hopeful Mitt Romney picked a young politician as his candidate for vice-president, the choice clearly turned the campaign from the silly season to the election season.
Paul Ryan, a 43-year-old congressman from the biggest US cheese-producing state of Wisconsin, grabbed attention and headlines like almost no other choice could have.
This was a gutsy, risk-taking move by Mr Romney, often described accurately as the most boring man to run for president in the memory of living Americans.
