Strong stand on Sorayuth

As a former journalist, I would like to commend the Bangkok Post's editorial team for their decision to run the ''Advertisers mull pulling support for Sorayuth'' story on Thursday's front page.

And to no less extent, I would like to commend the Anti-Corruption Network for taking a stand on the issue, saying members of their network who advertise on Sorayuth Suthassanachinda's news programme are planning to withdraw their support as long as he remains on air at Channel 3 while facing embezzlement allegations.

Sorayuth announced that he did nothing wrong on his morning news programme the day after the National Anti-Corruption Commission found him guilty. This violated journalistic ethics as he used the station's airtime that was sponsored by advertisers to defend himself.

bangmodker - can you supply some specific links of what you claim? Is funny that people such as Eric, and yourself, claim to be tolerant and progressive, then spew some of the most hateful speech to anyone that doesn't agree with you.

@Hijacked Ann - Thailand - Land of Scams - You fell for one of the oldest scams in the Kingdom - been going on for over 20 years.

Aram Boy, I am delighted to read a letter from someone who dislikes low moral standards in public figures. I look forward to reading a stream of letters from you in which you express disgust for the low moral standards of all public figures. Would you like to start with the hundreds of politicians instead of focusing all your energy and attention on someone who has done so much for the country in his own way?

I fail to understand the fuzz about Eric Bahrt's letters. He is simply immitating people in the Tea Party, the right wing Republicans and the tv hosts/"news anchors" on Fox News. Now that is genuine hate on a massive scale, yet none of those people criticizing Eric, comment on or condemn it. I wonder why? Double standards?
I find Eric's letters to be straight to the point and very often agree with his world views, the only exception being vegetarianism. I do enjoy a good steak and some fried chicken.

It would take 5 minutes to round up the tuk tuks and scammers waiting at the Reclining Buddha Temple to bust these scams that happen in plain view of Grand Palace .I guess TAT likes tourists getting scammed because their lack of action for over 20 plus years tells the story .

    HIJACKED ANN

Thank you for writing to remind us of the rampant scams. You were not complaining but merely out of good heart in letting us know.

Please don't mind the previous writers in being wise guys; they do not sound like Thais and most likely are expatriates.

Regarding no guilt proven yet - in Thailand it doesn't have to be before anyone is subjected to national exposure by the 're-enactment' of the crime in front of tv and print media, as well as dozens of onlookers who have nothing better to do. Why does Thailand indulge in such nonsense, before the accused has even been to court? I know of no other nation that does this. More Thainess that we 'aliens' don't understand.

Hijacked Ann - a little research, which everyone should do before going anywhere, would have highlighted the scam you were subject to. It has been widely publicised for many years and only last week a tv documentary exposed it. Obviously, the tourism authority is aware of it, but chooses to do nothing. You can draw your own conclusions about that. The attitude is that it doesn't matter if one tourist is upset by it because another fool will be along in a minute. As you have proved.

Hijacked Ann, yaawwwwnnn. I'm sorry you were so naive and duped for a full two hours, at least you didn't buy expensive fake gems. Eric Bahrt, your endless opinions and defenses are getting equally tiresome, gee BP must have been hard up for letters today. Next newspaper please.

Eric ,not sure when the last time you visited america, but I think Mitt calling half the people lazy bums was very conservative.Socialism is alive and well in good old USA. Your hero Obama has done more to promote laziness than any president the country has every seen. I saw a cartoon showing Obama with a list of things to do on one hand said apologize to all countries and on the other said "except the one I owe an apologize to"
I think Obama is a sorry individual but I do not hate him anymore that I hate you for being a vegetarian
