Stone-age soldiers

A young man in my condo building was born in Chiang Rai and moved away when he was four years old.

Now that he is 21 and eligible for the draft, he had to return to Chiang Rai at his own expense in order to take care of paperwork in anticipation for the draft.

I asked why he could not do this in Bangkok and have the information sent over the internet and was told that it was because they did not have a computer - in Chiang Rai, paper after paper was filled out and filed away.

Hurricane Sandy was the largest Atlantic hurricane on record. I take that as a clear indicator of change. You are a modern day Don Quixote with your belief that mankind's pollution is not causing damage and so therefor change.

    JOHN KANE
    Brilliant
all prostitutes are not victims of trafficking
i don't know where these activists and ngo's get this stupid notion
also, my personal view is, that all of us who work for wages prostitute ("sell") some part of us, and whether it is the brain, the skeletal-muscular system, or the vagina that is being sold is a matter only of method and not of kind.

The real answer is that it is the fault of history. In the recent past it is the fault of the various governments, the military and the bureaucracy who continue to refuse to admit to the problem and agree on a solution that is in the national interest rather than their own narrow self interest.
This problem is not confined to the South it is a national problem, thankfully the South is the only place where it has turned violent, so far.

Mr Ross, due to Thai needing a house paper that must be produced along with their ID card there is a massive amount of travel around the country at all times. Elections are a big one but there are many more. You can live in rented accommodation in Bangkok for years but still must 'go home' to renew your ID card. Its a strange state of affairs.

3G losers: Correction, you can't buy 3G anymore. They started cashing in for 4G that might work somewhere in....(fill in the year somewhere beyond 2015). So, dear customer, just pay and shut up... Correction again: Talk as much as you can for the benefit of our profits...

Disc 1: Only a fool WOULD BELIEVE that human activity is responsible, at least in part, for global warming. So commentator; we're even again...

Vint, unfortunately, a common characteristic of leaders like Thaksin is that they think they are untouchable, that their wealth can buy everyone, and that they can merrily milk a country for the benefit of their family. They don't understand that the world is changing so rapidly, and that a country cannot keep up with global development with their style of corrupt and autocratic-dictatorial leadership. The seeds of his downfall have already been planted as nothing he does is based on timeless principles, which he would realize if he studied history. He will be very surprized when his downfall comes, and I wonder whose name he will mention w
