Yingluck, Yinglove one and all

Yingluck Shinawatra has yet to succeed, but she's inching ever closer. The Pitak Siam rally last Sunday and talk of a coup show just how nervous the other side is getting.

Bias and prejudice can cloud judgement. She's the sister of Thaksin Shinawatra, and from the beginning the anti-Thaksin brigade dismissed her.

They mocked her usage of English, and even her Thai. They called her a nominee. They laughed at her intellect. The lady has her flaws and failings, no doubt, but Prime Minister Yingluck is succeeding - though not yet a success, the jury is still out on that - in something no one else has been able to do: bringing about reconciliation. This is the exact reason why it was deemed necessary to organise a rally against the Pheu Thai government last Sunday, before it's too late.

I can't believe Mr. Voranai chose to overlook all the shortcomings of the PM. He might have his very own reasons doing that. But from what I've read this particular article, he couldn't convince me a bit. Please take off the blinders and get sober and deal with the real reality. I'd really like to read

    Politics aside, she's gorgous!

Interesting that most other commenters see this opinion piece as pro-government, when I see a fairly objective view of the current state of affairs, and I'm no Thaksin lover.

I guess it's a case of 'the truth hurts' for some..............

It would appear my previous entry (D7)came out incomplete, so here is the missing part:

For the sake of democracy and freedom of the press I hope not.

And a last word for Khun Voranai, the only way Yingluck will learn to do the things she is not good at is by doing them! It goes with the job.

Putting Yingluck forward for PM was a stroke of genius by Thaksin (as a political Svengali you have to admire the man), for Thais value the superficial over substance. Personally, I think that the actions and policies of this govt have been the most controversial and potentially damaging of the past decade. But it's all about strengthening their eventual negotiating position for reconciliation, grinding down the opposition. A winner takes all scenario is never going to work, Thaksin has made too many passionate enemies and they are the ones mostly paying all the taxes.

Good terminology - the traditional elites versus the nouveau elites! That's what it really is.

People criticizing Khun Voranai here are just showing they will flatter him when what they want said is said, and turn their backs when not. This is in part due to the way they have been given preference in the comments sections. They think they rule the roost. Always.

The BP and other MSM need take a stand against the possibility of yet another military intervention. This article does so, with a subtle and "soft" approach. Thereis , at this point in time no more direct way of doing so that would not risk repercussions. It is also a wake up call to the opposition to get its act together.

I no longer support the PT as I believe it has

Well the poor dont really pay tax and the elite not so much as they should .That leaves the middle class to fund Thaksins popularity campaigns like giving kids tablets or paying too much for rice . Yes he thinks he has found a winning combination but the one thing he hasnt factored is the hatred that the average taxpayer has for him.

For Thailand future and development she is the best ever happened to Thai politic

Not only are "the anti-Thaksin brigade" desperate but they are out of clearly out of new ideas. A coup has been tried before and failed - look where we are today. I guess for them it's "if at first you don't succeed, coup, coup again."

And they don't think Thaksin will be more prepared for a coup this time around?
