Fresh from a successful and exhausting election campaign, US President Barack Obama is already embarking on another foray into "swing states".

This time the states are overseas, in Southeast Asia.

The whistle stops in this region will be just as exhaustive as on the domestic trail. But the possibility of long-term success remains as yet uncertain.

    There is a third alternative - which is for us to take the best of both the US and Chinese systems and learn the lessons from each, because neither is perfect. Further why just limit ourselves to China and America - there are plenty of other examples of good and bad around the world - Germany, Brazil, India, Greece for instance. A wise man (and nation) learns from others mistakes
