Ready to topple a govt, Or not

Gen Boonlert Kaewprasit claimed the police were trying to incite violence in order to justify a crackdown, thereby stomping on a peaceful and democratic protest.

Jatuporn Prompan claimed the Pitak Siam group was trying to incite violence to provoke a police crackdown and thereby bring military intervention that would topple the Pheu Thai-led government.

Who makes more sense?

I suppose when you people including yourself Khun Voranai stop talking about the man in Dubai then things will improve but to keep blaming one man than im sorry your all getting alittle boring.Even you Khun Voranai supprise me when you keep refering to the fugitive in Dubai. If he was such a bad man tell me why he has so many supporters her in Thailand and all over the world?I think alot of people need to start growing up.I like many other people believe that he was set up and everything was fabricated against him.So try and give it a break its getting boring.I see alot more worse people in Thailand and thier still walking the streets.

Diss 36 says Thais are generally too lazy, lack resolve and look for the easy way out that offers the least amount of effort.
I totally agree. I've often said Thai's will ALWAYS "Take the path of least resistance" in pretty much everything they do.

@ggh D27. 'Of the rich elite in Thailand, how many do you think took advantage of this by purchasing foreign currency prior to the devaluation and then repurchasing Baht at a 50% discount?'.

Your hero Thaksin was Finance Minister and as such had inside info that he did not tell the other rich elites.

BTW He does not give his money to the poor; he uses other peoples': the tax payers.

    Khun Voranai,
Your star is high in the sky and has been in its ascendency for a while. But one senses now a feeling that all is not as it really is and always SEEMED to be. It's becoming clear you do rather rely on well-worded ambiguity as a means to please all and offend the fewest possible readers....or editors. It's an easy gig, Khun Voranai. You have settled into a place too comfortable to raise yourself above the common rank of 'subversive' journalists in the Kingdom. Note the inverted commas. (My comments will not be displayed, I know.)

Any removal or installation of a government other than by election should never happen. The government belongs to the people elected by the majority. Only the people should have the right to remove or install the government by their vote only. Democracy.

    Disc 2.

Excellent summation of the fundamental flaws.

Thais are generally too lazy, lack resolve and look for the easy way out that offers the least amount of effort.

They lack intellect, maturity and the ability to rationally discuss, reason, critically think and accept other points-of-view.

They are a make-do, "good-enough" society unwilling or unable to strive for excellence.

Trying to have a meaningful conversation with the average Thai is like talking to a puppy.

After 16 years of trying to teach the supposed best and brightest of them, I'm so bored with it all and looking for a way out.

Dis#25, the '97 crisis was a result of a combination of too much foreign borrowing in USD and the Baht devaluation aggravated the debt and the very small foreign reserve. If you read into the current borrowing, you will see that a big borrowing are domestic and in Baht. Second, the high reserve we have will prevent this to happen again. And if you follow the ASEAN declaration, you will see that ASEAN countries have a pact that will lend member countries should similar crisis arise. No, a 'similar 96 crisis will not happen again and most economists will tell you.

Yesterday was rally No.2 and it was a non event.
It was a warm up to test the gov. and the red-shirts.
There are other ways then a coup to change the gov.

Democracy is just an illusion. It can painted and bought, swindled and conned. And it is. Not just here but all over the world. This is the lie of 'democracy'. As TS once said; "Democracy is not my goal" and "democracy is just a vehicle". Then he worked out the 'democracy' vehicle has benefits. And now, unfortunately, he and his gang are better at driving this vehicle than the others at the moment.

So all the comments about 'democracy' and democratic elections etc are just as empty as the word.

Ultimately all elections are about making money. In the US the Democrats spent 1 billion US$ getting Obama elected. The financial backers who put up that money expect their billion back with a lot of interest, via government contracts and tenders, infrastructure projects and all the normal things.

In the western world the loser has got used to losing their money and patiently awaits the next election to try to win and get their people in power to get the money back.

In Thailand the financial backers of the loser of the elections is very angry and not willing to write off their money and wait - which is why there are problems. .
