Is scandal in the eye of the writer or reader?

It has been a long-standing tradition for Thai newspapers to print a short message on the front pages of their Dec 5 editions expressing well wishes to His Majesty the King on the occasion of his birthday.

Some newspapers just come up with the standard statement "Long Live the King" if they cannot figure out other better words or simply suffer from mental block.

But most mainstream Thai-language newspapers usually print a short poem in honour of our monarch with the name of the writer printed at the end of the poem.

Perhaps outlawing poetry requiring thought should be considered my the Ministry of Culture. Most Thais are not capable of thought and critical thinking. Heck, while we're on the topic, outlaw all poetry.
