DSI probe turning deaths into political tools

The investigation into the deadly crackdowns on anti-government protesters in 2010 is now under way and I strongly support this effort. It is the culture of impunity that has made state violence against the people possible.

We need to end this culture by teaching a lesson to those responsible for the violence.

I believe many people share my view and wish to see at least once in our lives that there is justice in this so-called Buddhist, democratic land _ that there are no first or second or third among us equals.

Charging Abhisit and Suthep with murder makes great headlines and thows a bone or two to his opponents but in reality to be charged with a specific murder it has to be proved beyong reasonable doubt that and order was given from the very top to kill that man. Not a general "open fire" order to kill anybody you want or only open fire in specific circumstances but to target a specific person.

This article started out as a good read until the part about a trade off for charter change. I think to many people believe what AV, Suthep, DPMP's, claim. I think this is more about justice for the loss of innocent lives rather than a bill. Obviously it will become more clear as time goes on.

If the courts cannot even say who exactly shot that man, then there is no case. War weapons were stolen from the military and both sides may have used them. The military denied already that they shot this man. Charging former PM Abhisit with murder in this case is absurd. This can happen again in one of the next demonstrations, which is coming soon. And then let’s see if the Yingluck will be charged for murdering demonstrators.

"In fact, what the DSI should have done to gain public trust is to do what it said it would do _ investigate how the red shirts were also responsible for the 2010 casualties." - above

"The DSI had taken legal action against hardcore red-shirt protesters. It has filed 213 legal cases against red shirts, including 64 cases of terrorism and sabotage and 62 cases of arson, while 295 people on the UDD side have been arrested and prosecuted." - BangkokPost, Dec 7, 2012
