Disrobing ineffective

Disrobing ineffective

Re: ''Controversial monk stripped of his robes'' (BP, July 14).

So what? The infamous Yantra was also stripped of his robes years ago after bilking his parishioners for millions and was leading a double life. He is now living in Los Angeles thumbing his nose at the Sangha Council.

Top monks in Thailand live like the cardinals in the Vatican. Many of them do not know ''humility, poverty'' or anything else. I've seen chauffeured monks in Bangkok with outriders in front of their Benzes.

Wirapol Sukphol is disrobed. Does it make any difference to him? Not an iota. He can live the life of luxury anywhere in the world that he chooses. The only losers are those who contributed to his lifestyle. Do I feel sorry for them? No, not in the least. ''A fool and his money are soon parted.''

Hurry up, Mr Postman

Re: ''Thai Post Improvements'' (PostBag, July 13).

I agree with RH Suga, but want to go further. Thailand Post is a complete waste of time. How they stay in business I do not know.

I have read over the years how they intend to become an international ''player'' in the postal service but I do not see how this is possible.

Despite addresses being in English and Thai, I have only received one out of 10 airmail letters over the last two years.

There is nothing of value contained in any of these letters, so I find theft of the mail a very unlikely cause.

What is strange is that prior to the ''big floods'' two years ago I always received all my airmail correspondence (parcels included) without fail. A little slow (10 days), but 100% reliable. Having approached our local main post office to raise this problem, the only answer is that to guarantee delivery of airmail, we must register. Even if one uses an international courier service, which is expensive, the service stops dead outside Bangkok or they want extra money to deliver to another province when the sender has already paid for a door to door service (I have experienced this on two occasions).

My last point is, by not delivering these airmail letters, Thai Post is committing fraud as they are paid a percentage of the original senders costs to deliver this mail. It would be interesting if the bosses at Thai Post could explain this situation.

Missing out on sport

I think Khun Ohpchoi (''No TV sports is no loss'', PostBag, July 13) misses the point of Peter's letter.

I, too, have the same problems as Peter with CTH (called many times, no answers). I wonder if this company even exists or has any plans to broadcast EPL to Thai customers next month.

And Khun Ohpchoi, I like reading books and read many, have a lot of other pastimes, run a foundation and listen to music on the radio. But I also love to watch Saturday night's EPL games.

For Peter, please check the internet for ''live streaming EPL games'' _ you will be surprised.

A reply from a CTH representative would also be very much appreciated.

Play it safe with dogs

Jack Gilead is right (''Dog diet debate rages on'', Postbag, July 14).

There are some vegan foods that are unhealthy for dogs. But he fails to point out there are also non-vegan foods such as liver, dairy products, bacon and so on that can also be harmful to dogs. So I come back to my original suggestion that the readers should google ''vegetarian dogs'' where they can learn how to put a dog on a safe vegetarian diet. Also google ''Vegan Heartland. Making your own vegan dog food''.

Numerous veterinarians have noted that a meat-oriented diet poses the same risk to dogs _ heart attack, strokes, cancer and so on as it does to humans. But I think we can all agree that whatever diet you put your dog on, make sure what you feed him _ vegetarian or non-vegetarian _ is safe for him.
