Re: "Sinful North" (Pulse, May 7).

Korkaew Pikulthong asked, "How can we sink this low?" This was his response to some people who called the North a sinful place and a red province after the earthquake on Monday. This is a natural occurrence and should not be used politically, he said.

But where was his concern about hatred between Thais when his followers applauded the deaths of fellow compatriots? It was sickening beyond my wildest imagination when a speaker, who is believed to be a policemen, announced on stage during a red-shirt gathering in Nakhon Ratchasima the "good news" of the murder of innocent children in an attack on anti-government protesters in Trat. The announcement was cheered by the crowd.
