There are three main reasons why literate Thais converged in Bangkok streets for more than six months to call for national reform: 

First, the government’s ravaging populist schemes. The government’s populist programmes during the past decade have resulted in the country losing its long-term economic vision.

The Yingluck government’s rice price-pledging scheme has relegated Thailand from being the world’s number one rice exporter down to number three in just one year.
