How is City Hall attempting to make local roads safer for pedestrians?

As if our roads needed more confusing markings

A) By employing a guide to help them cross the road.

B) By making them wear neon colours so motorists can better see them.

C) By installing larger pedestrian crossing lights.

D) By painting zigzag road markings ahead of pedestrian crossings. The Bangkok Post reports that these twisting patterns have been put in place for trial use on Dinso Road, Asok Montri Road, and streets around the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration office, where they are painted 15 metres before each zebra crossing. The theory is that zigzag markings are a “traffic calming” device, as it can make motorists feel that a street is becoming narrower and alert them to slow down. Well, we’ve seen all kinds of vehicles attempt to brave tiny lanes so let’s see how effective this will be.

JOB

Why was a senior official of India’s Central Public Works Department recently fired?

A) Because he constantly stole office supplies.

B) Because he lied about his experience.

C) Because he wore shorts to the office.

D) Because he didn’t show up to work for 25 years. The employee, who joined the department in 1980, took a leave of absence in 1990 and hasn’t come back since, according to the Indian Express. An investigation was launched in 1992 but the employee refused to cooperate, leading to many delays in the case against him. It was only after the Indian government vowed to crack down on high levels of absenteeism did the employee finally get fired, 25 years later.

BAN

What has been banned from stadiums of various football clubs?

A) The word “soccer”.

B) Alcohol.

C) Unauthorised chants.

D) Selfie sticks. Premier League clubs Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are among the teams that have banned the photo-taking device from their stadiums, reports the BBC. This ban stems from concerns that selfie sticks could be used as a weapon or compromise public safety. We suppose anything is possible when it comes to rowdy football fans.
