Just who are the people voting "No" to this poll? Don't they know asbestos kill people and it is banned in all civilized countries?
Discussion 5 : 26/01/2011 at 12:36 AM5
absolutely inexcusable it is still used. Every one of the products it is used for has a substitute - which has been in play around the world for decades. Thai people are not important enough to the government to ban these products. Same way that Thai local food contains more contaminants and bugs when compared to food used for export.

It's like asking if smoking is bad. When inhaled, asbestos is a lot worse than smoking so it should definitely be banned!

But what makes this government? Everybody knows that the asbestos is a highly carcinogenic product! There have been already tens of thousands deaths in the world because of it! Asbestos fibers included in materials escape from it when one they are broken and are going to get in lungs, without going back, irritate cells who become cancerous!

A "No brainer," IMO.

Thailand ban the import / sales of asbestos to make roof tiles, cement pipes and auto parts that have potential for human exposure such as in the form of dust from sawing or cutting.
