Hearing the news that Thailand recognises a Palestinian state makes me wonder whether the USA and Israel didn't cook this one up to try and dissuade the Thai government.

Has the Thai embassy or the consulate in Northern ireland issued a terrorist alert to its citizens?
It will be intresting to know as NI is now on a full terrorist alert.Discussion 23 : 20/01/2012 at 01:51 PM23
lazar, Comment 12.. Yes, Thailand is on the terrorist map and for very good reason. Corruption and greed here plus its vunerability to being exploited make it an easy target for those so inclined.

I think its not wrong for the US embassy to put out an alert. Its just the media blows it out of proportion. The police also made it a big deal trying to get all the credit by showing off the suspect to the media. If the Thai government really want to keep it under wraps, they could have inform the police to act and prosecute the suspect discretely. They did not need to point fingers back at the US. After all the US only tip them off at where the suspect was.

aussiedoug. you are so correct, Thanks and not forget those who also fought against japan, germany, and in vietnam. I am Brit, America has never won singlehandidly any war And never will. But they like to think that they did. As for spiceman,The falklands are part of the sovereignty of the queen of england. They are British citzens, they were invaided and we protected them. As is our right to protect our people and sovereignty.

Khun Chinagirl #16, what do you mean by "defense or prosecution? I haven't got a clue of what you are talking about.

Khun Med #15, Was any European nations playing any significant role in the Pacific War during WWII? The Europeans were picking up the pieces in rebidding their war-torn countries, upon the defeat of Nazi Germany, while the US was finishing off the Japanese Empire, wasn't it? Besides, none of the Europeans had any resources left to help the US waging war with Japan.
Falkland War was an ugly colonial war between the UK and Argentina. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if it restarts again, if the UK discovers massive oil reserves around it. Can you tell me, what right the UK has to occupy Malvinas, the islands just off Argentina, but half way around the world from the UK? And what's about N Ireland? Your call?Discussion 18 : 20/01/2012 at 07:23 AM18
Khun Med #15, can you give me the evidence that Saddam Hussein was put in power by the US? According to a retired Iraqi AF General, Georges Sada, in his book, "Saddam's Secrets," who knew Saddam personally, since he was a thug on the street of Bagdad, and later served under him as AF chief of staff, Iraqi politicians hired Saddam to assassinate their political opponents. Saddam was very smart, ruthless, and savvy, and he was able to work his way up to the top of the Baath Party, and eventually, took over the Iraq in a coup. Prior to that, Iraq had close relationship with the UK and the US, but after he became Iraqi president (for life), he became very close with the USSR, and buying lots and lots weapons from them. Hope this helps!

Gohmer/Disc #14, leave out the sabre rattling and the use of poor americans as cannon fodder to advance the politicians idea of running the world and then try answering Hugo's question again. I for one would like to hear about the time the Americans attacked Canada and got sent packing with their tails between their legs, or has that been written out of the history books?

This is still a breaking story and I doubt if we know enough to judge if it was right or wrong yet. Better to be safe, I think. US foreign policy has not been without errors, but how many countries have had the desire or guts to protest or criticise when given the chance ?. It has suited many to stay in the background. Spiceman, not sure if you are for the defence or prosecution, but certain to upset both sides with your account of history.
