The Thai government intentionally misleads the tourists. Just look at the Tsunami in 2004.. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Hawaii warned the entire region. Bangkok and then PM Mr. T ignored the warning fearing the tourists would run away ! ! Foolish move !

Palastine ... Isreal ... really intelligent comments from posters. Is there any real hope for democracy in the world?

Is the whole thing motivated by Thailand recognising palestine? Isreal knew about the possibility of Thailand recognisting palestine. Maybe many people now think as in disc 10#.
I have said this in other posts here, when it was announced. I do think that this was motivated and premeditated act of the isreals. To sway Thailand into not recognising palestine.Discussion 10 : 21/01/2012 at 02:53 PM10
Question should be.. Do you feel that the so called incident was motivated by Thailand recognizing Palastine? The answer most likely would be yes but the vote would be gamed to show that 96 feel that is not so...

A lot of things are done so that it would not affect tourism in many countries.

In the uk Northern ireland there is now a full alert on terrorism. Has the thai embassy/ consulate issued a terror alert for its citizens? I have tried to check but could not find anything.

Disc. 2. Bud, pretty much the case. Every government will manipulate events to suit its own ends, which may or may not coincide with the welfare and safety of the people it is supposed to represent and serve.

I think terrorist attacks – not only in Thailand - are overrated. Lots of people die every day in traffic accidents. Even without knowing the exact numbers I am sure it is a lot more likely in Thailand to get injured or killed in a traffic accident than in a terrorist attack.
It seems like a lot of tourists are scared of terror attacks but then they jaywalk on Sukhumvit. I think technically this is called bad risk assessment…Discussion 5 : 21/01/2012 at 09:13 AM5
The likelyhood of being a victim of a terrorist bombing here is as real as the chances of being ripped off by uncrupulous taxi drivers or having one's drinks spiked by a conniving bar girl.
