Interesting that neither Laos or Burma or on the list. I quite like Laos, but I haven't been to Burma in many years and can't make a judgment.

Malaysia has beautiful beaches! Great food also!

I would not recommend any of these destinations to friends.
Those that say Vietnam treat tourist with respect, no scams etc...Ha! are you kidding! When I was in Vietnam VungTao, I decided to walk back to my hotel from one of the eateries. I was with a buddy and we got harassed at least 10 times by scammers and pimps on motorbikes on the way back. At times I felt very unsecure. Hotels keep your passport too (as required by law, 2001). On a cruise ship that stopped for a day, theives stole the ships morring ropes (inside job I suspect). Nice beaches if you can look past all rubbish.Discussion 3 : 12 Jul 2012 at 20.513
Go to Viet Nam! They don't look at you as a walking ATM machine, won't scam you and have many beautiful beaches that are safe and lower cost hotels. May I suggest Halong Bay, Sapa, and Da Lat. Also check out Danang, Hoi An, and Hue.

Thai friends or foreign friends? For foreign friends, I'd say spend it in Thailand!
