I've been in nasty traffic jams in both cities.... so I'd say they're equally bad.
However, boy the taxis in Bangkok are nicer, newer and friendlier.

Just came back from Manila/Makati. Still cannot get use to left-hand drive. In comparison, I think Bangkok traffic is better managed. I think, in comparison, you have to name the roads as well. BTW, it cost 195 Peso (including 20 Peso toll) by taxi from hotel at Makati Avenue to their airport Terminal three using their Skyway.

Both are equally heavy. The different is that Manila's air pollution compared to Bangkok. Why? because usually cars in Bangkok are newer than in Manila.

How about a poll about how the traffic solution in Bangkok could be approved. Here are some choices:
    a) The police should enforce the traffic rules
    b) It should be necessary that applicants pass real theoretical and practical tests before receiving a driving license
    c) Streets should be cleared of food stalls, parked Taxi-Mafias, etc.
    d) All of above

The population of Metropolitan Manila increased to 16,300,000people. Some foreiners stated their impressions of a traffic jam of Bangkok that"They have heard a jam of Bangkok is a bad situation. But their first trip for Bangkok changed their first image for Bangkok. They said that"Manila's traffic-jam is heavier than Bangkok." "Its air-pollution also is heavier than Bangkok."

I didn't vote because I've never been to Manila but I know I wouldn't want to drive in Bangkok. I wish the number of voters would display.

You wouldn't be saying Bangkok if you had been to Manila.
And yes, Thailand IS a third world country.

  • Discussion 2 : 17 Jan 2013 at 17.452

Thailand now compares itself with 3rd world countries?

A Yin and Yang poll. Traffic congestion affecting both Bangkok and Manila are equally as bad. Best to avoid either of these cities. Anyway as both of these cities will be the first to feel the affects of sea level rise, it might be better for residents to buy a boat.
