Some of the polls are quite amazing.
Who would say "NO"?Discussion 13 : 03 Feb 2013 at 21.5113
I just wait for blue ray. Can't stand the sound of popcorn being eaten out of boxes, people explaining the movie to each other while the movie is going on, texting, 30 minutes of stupid ads, people talking on phones and flatulance.

"What happened to the art of conversation?"
Disc 3
'Phone-itis' is a problem all over the world. Nobody talks anymore. But, Thais are the worst and consummate gossips at audio levels that would shatter glass. The mobile phone has just become an extension of the village PA system.
I do note with some satisfaction that some of the more civilized bus companies now have a noise free warning about mobile phone abuse, before the bus leaves.Discussion 11 : 03 Feb 2013 at 10.0511
Not sure about the fine, but absolutely agree with ejecting them from the cinema.

They should not be fined. Sociopathic tendencies; making excessive noise, shouting across an office, driving like an idiot are common and acceptable in Thai society. I don't believe all of them are even aware they're annoying anyone.

How about offering a lesson in manners as well

In opera houses too you have to switch off your mobile.

Yes unless it is a proven emergency. Many people carry on conversations during the movie as if they were not interested in the movie at all. I think many people go in groups just to enjoy the time and company.

Sure, kick them out, but give them a fine? Fined by who, exactly? The ticket taker or the kid who makes popcorn? Yeah, good luck with that.

It seems that problem depends on the cinema. I go from time to time to Major Cineplex Sukhumvit and to Terminal 21 and I can’t remember the last time I heard someone talking on the phone while the film was on. It seems like at least some cinemas have this problem under control.
But I remember a visit in Emporium with lots of (want-to-be) high-so kids. They did not talk on the phone but they talked to each other very loud which was obviously not better. I don’t go there anymore – problem solved.
