I meant, anyone BUT a Thaksin appointee.

  • Discussion 17 : 25 Feb 2013 at 20.0917

Anyone put a Thaksin appointee. If Thaksin's mob gets a hold of Bangkok, that's the end.

@D#12 bkkmatt. The problem is that 'Thais voting wisely' is certainly an oxymoron. LOL

@onlyasking #13. You write “Only the elite worry about strategy”. How many “elite” do you think live in Bangkok? I see every day lots of expensive cars and lots of advertisements for condominiums for “only 10 million”, etc.
I earn a lot more than the average Thai but I can’t afford any of this. There must be a lot Thai “elites” in Bangkok.

"As most of the commentators can't vote, the result of this poll is irrelevant and a waste of time." All of these polls are a waste of time. How could they be otherwise, when they are open to everyone around the world, even people who couldn't find Thailand on map. But they give people a chance to express an opinion, which no doubt brings more readers to the Post.

D 9 & 11 Yes its interesting to see all the views. It just sometimes fustrates me when expats are out of feel with how Thai people think. If PT gets less votes than in the 2011 in BKK they will suffer a set back. If they win or get % more votes than in the 2011 election they will see it as a sign that they are on the correct path. For Thai's its a bread and butter election, which party would have the most benefits for them as individuals, it doesnt matter for them strategically who should win or not. Only the elite worry about strategy.

This poll simply shows that ex-pats realise a PT Governer would mean disaster for Thailand and potentially another round of mass street protests/deaths or military coup.
As much as the Dems are pretty useless we realise a Dem governer would keep the Thaksin machine from controlling the heartbeat of Thailand (BKK) and make it harder for TS to come home and cause more trouble.
An independant gov would be good and a major loss of face to both PT and the Dems.
But..... We can't vote unfortunately so the poll does not reflect how Thai's will vote next Sunday.
Let's hope Thai people vote wisely....mmmmmm

The poll is interesting because it illustrates the difference between the opinions of Thai voters and the (mostly)foreign non voters who post here. My prediction is that it will be close but the Dems will get it by a narrow margin.
I hope that Voranai is right when he writes in todays column that even a narrow win will lead to a shake up in the Dems, Thailand needs 2 strong parties and the Dems are useless.

My Poll: Do you prefer a man who is supported by a government that shelters the reds who burnt, bullied, and threatened Bangkok. Or do you prefer a man who many claim is too much of a gentleman. Do you prefer a man who comes from a police force that is corrupt and always hungry to fleece you at the corner of every street. This man did nothing to improve the efficiency and honesty of the police force, he will treat you no better than a piece of trash after he is elected. Like all the PT ministers he will take orders on Skype from a convicted criminal on the run. And it was this master who ordered the reds to paralyze Bangkok.

@onlyasking #8: You are right that this poll is irrelevant for the actual election, and it is also irrelevant because it is not representative.
But at least I think it is still interesting to read the comments and opinions from different people.
