The US needs more friends not more enemies and can't afford to push away more nations.
D2 the NASA project was doomed even before last years delay by the Thai government. They only got 4 countries approval (of the 12)for the study and China objected to the project. Unfortunately the US don't have a good reputation in countries like Vietnam and Cambodia, wonder why.

@Discussion 8 They already have, does anyone really think the so called "war on terror" really has anything to do with international terrorists?

RE: D1 in answer to your question, you can look up the ownership on wikipedia and you will see some of the reasons for their position on many subjects. ( I wonder who wants to get in the Chinese retail market)
The question on this issue as you state is a loaded question, and assumes points that are non factual but they still make them on many points every day.

The USA is morally and financially bankrupt and so indebted to China there is no chance of repayment, yet they retain a huge, powerful and dangerous military. At some point, likely after a World financial collapse, or after China stops accepting worthless paper and crashes the Dollar, war between China and the USA seems inevitable.

100% ..the US would declare War on itself if it could ...they have to keep the multi trillion dollar War machine moving to justify the horrendous deficit

Both China and the US are interconnected economically, so there is no reason why the US should stir up any troubles in Asian countries. It is just bad for business. However, Asian countries can stir up troubles for themselves and the world. For example, N Korea, the Deep South of Thailand, the Far East of Malaysia, and etc.

Personal interests will always take priority over national interests. National interests will always take priority over international interests. That is human nature. As America sees its influence diminishing in the region, it will take steps to prevent that. The USA was born out of strife. Since its inception in 1774 there has only been one decade (1930's) that it has not been involved in some form of military war. The USA has brought many forms of benefit to the world, peace is not one of them. As many wars are started because of economic reasons, let us hope that Chinas growing economic power is not seen as too much of a threat.

No. America's power is on the decline. You only have to look at the aftermath of George Bush's 'war on terror' in the middle east to prove the point. A war that brought to the surface tensions between Sunni & Shia and an ongoing islamic jidahist against the west, making the west impotent to intervene in any resolution of the Syrian confict.
As for picking on America month, it's very had to treat that with a straight face, afterall the US Secretary of State John Kerry, said himself "Americans have a right to be stupid." And a recent survey found that 46% of Americans believe the earth is less than 10,000 years, I tend to agree with Mr Kerry.

Since when has more Asian countries come under China's influence? The last news reports I read, claim China, is in a squabble with most Asian countries over terrority in the Pacific. However, I understand the jealousy related to this article. Not everyone places a rover on Mars, leads the world in technology like the USA, does, or comes to the rescue of those in danger. Thanks Americans.

I won't for one minute suggest "stirring up trouble" would be unjustified, or even that China (in fact all countries) don't do the same, but why would anyone think that the future will be different to the past? Has something happened on a cosmic level that I missed? Of course the USA will continue to do what is in its own interests, no matter where those interests can be served.
