Really? Are there no subject in Thailand worth doing a poll on? Is this a Thailand newspaper or a South Dakota newspaper. I can't imagine is is anyone's business but South Dakotans what kind of laws they have. If the editors have a problem finding interestion subject in Thailand to poll on, PM me and I will supply you with a very long list. Recently, all your polls concern the U.S.. We have internet access to U.S. newspapers to comment on U.S. subjects. Please remember you are a Thai newspaper in Thailand and people come to this website to learn what is happening in Thailand, not the U.S..

Discussion #12 I am an American and I support it.

One has to ask...who has the firearms in Thailand? Do ordinary citizens such as rice-farmers, shop-keepers or taxi-drivers? No, it is the few elite, the military and police and the ya-ba dealers, plus the insurgents in the restive-South. Where are those illicit firearms coming from? Who is profiting from their sales? Keep your domestic problems to your chest and argue about the woes of other countries. It is the proverbial head-in-the-sand syndrome. Disarming good citizens does nothing to quell violence or murder. We see it world-wide daily.

Unless your American your vote is meaningless.

Teachers in Israel have been carrying guns including assault rifles for years in order to defend themselves, so they can protect their students. This should be a no brainer, really!

"Do you support it?" Yes I do. But only so because it's clearly a domestic question and within the borders of the US . The comparison with Switzerland is not correct, the number of guns is not the mayor factor but the state of the nation is. How many "veterans" in Switz and how many on food stamps? You get my drift?

This law is like treating a headache by chopping the head off. D2. Nothing personal against the people of the U.S.A. I know very well that the majority always consists of good people. But this kind of policies remind me of another habit which is very American, taking loads of antibiotics at the first coughing. You do not treat the illness, you just look for the quick way to kill the symptoms. But as a European I can tell you, shortcuts take nowhere. Arming school staff is barbaric.

This is just outright stupid but what do I know.

What I do know is, when I went into a gun shop in Missouri the guy asked me if I was from Missouri. I said "No why"? He told me that I could just take one of these babies with me if I wasn't a resident. Fix the gun laws by making them all the same nationwide, take them out of the hands of criminals and draw a big black line through that "right to bear arms" line. And that's coming from someone that's owned firearms for most of my life.

Evil only runs rampant when it knows it will go unopposed. Those with guns and bad intentions only go to places they know people won't fight back. Arm & train responsible teachers and people will be protected and saved.

Want simple proof? Look at the Swiss. Everyone is armed & everyone is trained and everyone else knows it!! Thus, the crime rate is exceptionally low. Anyone disagreeing with this is just not facing reality or being reasonable.

I say no because the problem of people being shot in the USA, is not only in the schools, it's all over the streets. When it's not safe to walk the streets in broad daylight, then it's time to take more drastic action. The United States, has become overly-engaged overseas and has ignored the educaitonal needs and training, of its people. An uneducated society can become a dangerous society. Arming teachers could actually invite more problems. Most teachers aren't trained, or aren't capable even with training, of confronting an individual branishing a firearm.
