A thief gave back most, but not all, of what he stole.
Thief feels guilty
STOCKHOLM: A remorseful thief made life a little easier for a Swedish professor whose backpack containing a laptop computer and other items was stolen.
The professor from Umea University left the backpack in his apartment entrance during a quick errand to the basement when it was stolen. A little while later he made a surprise discovery of the backpack in the entrance way.
‘‘All the papers, diary and credit cards were there. Only the laptop was missing, and that wasn’t good since it contained material I have worked on all year,’’ the professor said.
However, a week later he received an envelope with memory sticks containing his documents and personal files. dpa
