Combining two careers in one life

Architect and dance impresario Busakorn Chantaravorameth explains the hidden secrets of dance.
Busakorn is a good example of how a person can lead a multi-dimensional life and pursue more than one completely different passion in their life.
We can learn a lot also from taking a closer look at her day job: "Her role at the architecture office is to implement the facility management of an office building ...which usually involves space planning, and move [management] and preventive management."
Many of the tasks we end up doing in our day-to-day work inside a company are things we barely could have dreamed of when we were still in college.
Her philosophy of how young men should be raised by their parents is also interesting: "...a boy can be groomed into a gentleman through dancing if he starts at a very young age..."

Architect and dance instructor Busakorn Chantaravorameth lives her two passions...
Once she began, she has never stopped dancing. She insists on continuing two full-time jobs although her boss in New York once asked her to close down the dance studio for fear that dancing would distract her from her design work.
Her role at the architecture office is to implement the facility management of an office building or a company system, which usually involves space planning, and move and preventive management.
A typical assignment for her would be to design office standards for an international company to be implemented in branches worldwide, or organise the maintenance and care of a building, property or equipment, which is usually the last and smallest concern of office building management. When cleaning a floor, for example, using the wrong type of cleaner can cause damage and shorten its lifespan, she explains.
And it's her job to design a plan to maximise the facilities and system of a building project. Architecture might be her career, but dancing is her life. Such architectural assignments linger in her mind only when she is off the dance floor. Once she steps on the floor, Busakorn seems to forget everything and throws herself into every move she makes.
...Dancing is more than just body movement, says Busakorn. She can tell the kind of lover a man is from the way he dances. Two dancers may be visible away from the dance floor, but their personalities are strongly evident in the way they move together.
A man's character is evident in the way he asks for a woman's hand and leads her to the next step, indicating if he's a stable, consistent and caring gentleman, explains Busakorn. "No one from the outside can see the way you feel about your partner. It's like you are having sex with him. And you can't fake it.
However, a boy can be groomed into a gentleman through dancing if he start at a very young age, she says. Dancing teaches a boy how to hold a girl's hand and led his partner gently around the dance floor till the end without bumping into other couples.
Dancing can be a course to groom a boy, but for women, it's something that keeps them in shape both physically and mentally.
Dancing requires a high level of discipline and concentration since it needs a lot of practice and memorisation. And it's dancing that keeps her focused. "Dancing is a kind of meditation for me," says Busakorn.
