Chalerm warns lese majeste websites

The government will set up a war room to curb the activities of websites with lese majeste content, Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung said on Friday.

"I won't let lese majeste websites stay on line during this government," said Mr Chalerm, who is in charge of justice and media.

Asked about drug suppression measures, Mr Chalerm said he was adept at tackling drugs and had plenty of sources and information to help him solve the problem.

He also said police will investigate the incident involving a group of red-shirt supporters who intimidated a foreign woman journalist wearing a yellow outfit who was reporting on their rally outside parliament yesterday.

"I have contacted Khon Rak Udon group leader Kwanchai Praipana and he has promised to keep the red-shirts orderly," Mr Chalerm said.

Asked about another incident outside parliament yesterday, when a group of red-shirts  assaulted two men who were laying a wreath in protest against House Speaker and Pheu Thai MP Somsak Kiatsuranont rulings, the deputy premier said there was a hidden agenda behind it.

However, he refused to elaborate.
