Photos + Captions = Easy Understanding

Look for interesting photos in the Bangkok Post or on www.bangkokpost.com. Try to understand the captions that explain them using the photos to help you.

Here's an activity you can do everyday. Look for interesting photos in the Bangkok Post or on www.bangkokpost.com and read the captions that explain them. Look for words or phrases that you don't know. Often you can understand them by looking at the photo. If you are online, you can immediately find out what they mean by going to an online dictionary like:

Oxford: http://www.oxfordadvancedlearnersdictionary.com/
Macmillan: http://www.macmillandictionary.com//
Longdo: http://dict.longdo.com/

That won't be necessary today, however, since I have a vocabulary lists for you.

First listen once or twice to the captions from the sound file as you look at the photos. Then go back and look at the photos and try to understand unfamiliar words or phrases. Then look at the vocabulary list that follows.  (Do you want more practice? Check out the photos in the Bangkok Post's multi=media section http://www.bangkokpost.com/multimedia/photo)
