Rare treats at Rangsit fair

Future Park, the shopping complex at the Rangsit end of Phahon Yothin Road, is hosting a fair from Friday to May 27 called "Red Cross and Best Products from Pathum Thani 2012". It will be held in the ground-floor Cascata zone and the Alive Park Hall.

Contemporary handicrafts and hard-tofind desserts are just two of the items on sale at a 10-day fair which kicks off at Future Park in Rangsit this Friday.

Since the event is being organised to mark HM the King's 85th birthday, HM the Queen's 80th birthday and HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn's 60th birthday, the fair will feature an exhibit on these three members of the royal family which will be decorated with lotus blooms, 30 species of orchid and a thousand blue-purple flowers (blue being the colour most associated with Her Majesty).

Other exhibits will focus on the cultural heritage of Pathum Thani, a province which boasts a large number of people of Mon descent. That ethnic identity will be mainly celebrated by the preparation of examples of traditional Mon cuisine such as khao chae (a selection of savoury summertime titbits eaten with chilled, perfumed rice), yakoo (a rice-based dessert), mataad (a type of curry) and kong (a snack food).

A host of other exhibitions and stage performances will honour the traditions, culture and ways of life of Pathum Thani residents.

Available for sale at some 200 shops and stalls during the course of the fair will be organic vegetables, foodstuffs and other outstanding products made in the province, as well as a range of Otop products.
