SET chief: Euro crisis not over yet

The Thai stock market is expected to be volatile over the next one or two months because the euro zone debt crisis has yet to be resolved, Stock Exchange of Thailand president Charamporn Jotikasathira said on Monday.

Although investors reacted positively to Greece's latest election result, the debt crisis in Europe still lingers, Mr Charamporn said after  a meeting with the Monetary Policy Committee and the Financial Institutions Policy Committee.

"Investors who are adept might be able to gain benefits at this time but inexperienced investors should be careful about the volatility that might occur over the next couple of months," the SET chief said.

Investors should closely follow the economic situation in Greece, he added.

Asian markets rose on Monday after Greek pro-austerity parties won enough votes to set up a government.
