Woman falls in front of BTS train

A woman fell on to the track at a BTS station as a skytrain was approaching the platform but escaped with only minor injuries on Thursday evening, Bangkok Mass Transit System president Arnat Arpapirom said.

Mr Arnat said the woman in her 40s, whose name was not immediately known, was hurrying to get in place to board an incoming train when she slipped over and fell onto the track.

Security staff quickly alerted the driver of the incoming train, who stopped in time to avoid hitting her.

The woman suffered cuts and abrasions to her face, but was otherwise unhurt.

He did not say at which skytrain station the incident occurred.

The injured woman was in the company of a man when the accident occurred. She said she would take care of the medical expenses herself, Mr Arnat said.
