To celebrate HM the Queen's 80th birthday, Bangkok's Grand Mercure Fortune Hotel and the Tourism Authority of Thailand are holding the 14th Fruit and Vegetable-carving, Flower and Banana-leaf Decoration Contest. Cash prizes worth in excess of 70,000 baht, plus trophies and certificates, are up for grabs.

Organised under the theme "Her Majesty's Global Warming Reduction Activities", the event is open to two categories of contestant: hotel staff/members of the general public; and students. Both categories are restricted to teams of four people.
Sixty percent of the time spent on each team's entry should be devoted to fruit- or vegetable-carving, 20% to floral embellishment and 20% to creating decorative features from banana leaves.
The contest will take place on Aug 9 from 8.30am to 10.30am. All entries will be put on public display and can be viewed that same day from 1pm to 5pm.
Applications should be submitted by Aug 7.
