- In celebration to the Children's Day, Ministry of Science and Technology is organising the ''Science Avenue 2010,'' which features activities to promote and disseminate knowledge on science and technology among youths, families and the general public. Forty-five science stations, more than 100 activities, games, science shows, science labs from 16 agencies are welcoming all youths to learn and have fun from Jan 6 to 9 at the ministry.

Thammasat Business School (TBS) and Haas School of Business at the Univ of California at Berkeley (UC Berkeley) have launched the 2009-2010 season of Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC), Southeast Asia. This is a graduate student global business plan competition that promotes entrepreneurial start-up companies and hosts over 300 teams with interests in health care, environmental and social development, education and microfinance.

The two winners in Southeast Asia will represent the region in the Global Finals in California and win more than $10,000 (332,000 baht) in prize money. 'The Magic of Classic' concert

Mahidol University's College of Music will be presenting ''The Magic of Classic'', the 5th concert in the 5th Season of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO), which will be held on Jan 8 at 7pm and Jan 9 at 4pm at the college's Music Auditorium.

Peter Langgartner from Austria will be the viola soloist in the concert under the baton of conductor Dariusz Mikulski. He will play Hungarian composer B?la Bart?k's Concerto for Viola and Orchestra.

In addition, the TPO will also be performing the romantic and vocal piece, the fourth symphony of Brahms (the last Brahms symphony, 1885), and the Thai traditional song Yee Poon Sa On, and Mozart's overture from the opera The Magic Flute.

On the upcoming Children's Day, the Thai Red Cross Society invites children and parents to join ''Children's Day with the Thai Red Cross 2010'' on Jan 9 from 8am to 4pm at the Thai Red Cross Society. Participants will have opportunities to engage in various edutainment activities, such as visiting the ''Red Cross Youth Activities and the Young Princesses'' exhibition, Snake Farm, Thai Red Cross Museum and many others. Admission is free.

Learning styles have become very popular in education, but with so many tests and models, how do we know which ones are useful?

About 100 learning styles are popular teaching tools used to enhance student learning. Multiple issues will be discussed during the talk by Dr Mina Eaves, an education researcher from England with a strong interest in learning styles and international education.
