Hua Hin International Triathlon 2012

Outdoor and eco-friendly activities are becoming more popular.

Horse riding on Hua Hin beach is a great activity for holiday revellers to do when visiting Thailand’s first resort town.

Events like triathlons are hoping to raise the profile of multi-sport and endurance events, and are set to become major sport attractions in Thailand.

The 4th edition of the Queen's Cup Hua Hin International Triathlon will take place on Aug 19 in the ambience of the fishing village of Khao Tao, 10km south of Hua Hin and about 200km from Bangkok. It is expected to attract 500 racers from around the world.

The race is open to individuals and teams. The triathlon includes swimming (1.5km), biking (41km) and running (12km), while the duathlon is made up of running (5km) and biking (41km) and running (12km). The total value of prize money for winners in all categories is 200,000 baht.

The event is supported by the Hua Hin Municipality, Sport Bicycle Company, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Thai Hotel Association with the aim of celebrating Her Majesty the Queen's 80th birthday.
