Ellen Page and Ashley Johnson will be starring in PlayStation games Beyond: Two Souls and The Last Of Us respectively, with new photos and videos providing a peek behind the scenes.

Page, who took lead roles in Inception and Juno, worked with Parisian studio Quantic Dream and director David Cage to produce a performance as Jodie Holmes, a young girl on the run from the authorities, exploring a strange and powerful connection to the afterlife.

Johnson rose to prominence in TV series Growing Pains before taking on the challenge of The Killing. As orphaned teen Ellie, she accompanies an older, shadier Joel as they try to survive in a plague-ravaged world.

Both actresses have taken their place among members of each game's cast to participate in performance capture sessions that mean their likenesses and movements can be replicated within the two 2013 titles.

Performance capture (or motion capture, as it's also known) has become an integral part of the video game making experience.

The technique has been used in anything from sports titles like FIFA Soccer and Madden NFL to action games such as Enslaved (which secured the talents of Lord of the Rings' Andy Serkis) and Mortal Kombat, while the detective thriller L.A. Noire (starring Mad Men's Aaron Staton) impressed with its array of super-realistic faces.
