For artisans in Nan, drums are more than just a musical instrument; they are works of art.

"The Drums of Muang Nan" is the title of a seminar on Aug 29 at Chulalongkorn University's Art and Culture Centre when scholar-cum-artist Yan Songmuangkaen or sla (master) Pom is scheduled to speak about the art of drum making in this northern province.

The seminar begins 1pm. The audience will get to see Nan's famous peacock dance and other performances put together by young dancers from Ban Klang Viang that's based in the province.
